Woven labels
Woven labels that outlive the garment
Threads interlaced, not ink printed. A woven label keeps its detail through hundreds of washes, which is why it is still the standard for brand labels.

What we do
What is a garment without a label?
Kowloon Knitting knows how much a brand rests on the small piece of fabric at the back of the neck. It is a finishing touch, and it is also the only part of the garment a customer reads.
We have been weaving labels since 1971. Our broadloom machines handle intricate artwork — logos, illustrations, even scenery — and we hold a wide stock of fabrics and thread colours so you are not designing around what happens to be available.
Artwork and delivery times are fast. We provide a production sample of your custom woven label for approval within 5–7 working days of receiving your signed approval.
Our minimum order quantity is 500 pieces, with no maximum.
If you want to talk through fabrics, finishing cuts or care labels, contact us and we will walk you through the options.
Why woven
What you get from a woven label
State of the art broadloom weaving
Every label is woven on our own broadloom machines, so we can hold fine detail that printing cannot reproduce — and we can hold it consistently across a hundred thousand pieces.
Your label, your choice
A wide selection of fabrics, from taffeta to satin to high-definition damask, plus a large range of thread colours. No more itchy labels, and no compromising the design to fit a stock option.
A cut above the rest
Choose from our full range of finishing cuts to control comfort and how the label attaches. If you are unsure which one suits your garment, our team will recommend it.
Colourfast for the life of the garment
Because the design is woven from dyed thread rather than printed onto the surface, there is nothing to crack, peel or fade away in the wash.
Low minimum, real pricing
Start at 500 pieces. Unit pricing improves sharply with volume, and we quote every band so you can decide where to commit.
Sampled before it is produced
You approve a physical production sample before the full run begins. Nothing goes to production on a screen proof alone.
Common questions
Before you order
What are woven labels and how are they used in clothing?
Woven labels are small tags made from woven fabric that are sewn into garments to carry the brand name, size or care instructions. Brands prefer them for their durability and finished appearance, and they remain the standard for main brand labels.
What is the difference between woven labels and printed labels?
A woven label forms its design by interlacing dyed threads, which gives it texture and makes the design part of the fabric itself. A printed label applies ink to the surface of a tape, which is better for dense wash-care text but does not hold up as long under repeated washing.
What materials are used for custom woven labels?
Mainly polyester in three weaves: damask, satin and taffeta. Cotton twill is available for a softer, more natural look. The right choice depends on the garment, the detail in your artwork and where the label sits against the skin.
How do I design my own woven label?
Send us whatever you have — a vector file, a JPG, or a photo of a label you like. Our design team redraws it for weaving, advises on the minimum legible text size, and returns a proof before anything is woven.
What is the smallest text you can weave?
It depends on the fabric. Damask holds the finest detail because of its higher thread count, so it can carry smaller text than taffeta. We will tell you honestly if your artwork needs simplifying before we quote it.
Can you match my brand colours?
Yes. Give us a Pantone reference and we will match it from our thread stock, or dye to order for larger runs. We confirm the match on the physical production sample.
Minimum order 500 pieces. No maximum.
Send us your artwork. We will quote it today.
Production sample approved in 5–7 working days once artwork is signed off.
